About this event

Formaldehyde is the annual science formal hosted by the McMaster Science Society! This year's theme is Out of This World where attendees can expect a space-related thematic experience. The formal this year will feature a dinner and dance with entertainment such as tarot reading, a caricaturist, a magician, and a balloon animal artist! There will also be live music hosted by McMaster's very own DJ Migz and an upcoming local talent.

Please purchase tickets using your McMaster email and ensure if you are purchasing tickets for students outside of McMaster that you include their ticket under your transaction as well.

Transportation from the McMaster campus to Carmen's Banquet Centre will be arranged on a first-come first-served basis. To choose your dinner, table seating, and bus reservation, an email will be provided to you upon your purchase.

Who is allowed to attend the event?

Formaldehyde is open to all students at McMaster, as well as their +1s extending past just the Faculty of Science. Bring your friends!

How do I get there?

We are providing bus transportation to Carmen's and back at a first-come-first-serve basis, however the availability of seats is limited. The transportation schedule will be provided.

Can I buy multiple tickets?

Yes! We will be sending out a google form shortly to transfer your tickets to your guests. You can purchase up to 10 tickets.

How many people per table?

There are ten people per table and a form will be sent out to list who you would like to sit with. Only ONE person needs to fill out the table form. If you do not have a group of ten, you still need to fill it out and you will be matched with another group to fill the remainder of the table.

Where can I get a refund?

Refunds after Jan 11th, 2024 will not be guaranteed. Please email Romik and Emma at formaldehyde@macsci.ca

Is there coat check at Formaldehyde?

Yes! There is free coat check at the event, however please note that the MSS is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

What activities are at Formaldehyde 2024?

There will be a dinner followed by a dance, an all-night photo booth, magician, tarot reader, caricaturist and balloon animal artist! Additionally, there will be multiple on-theme games to play. We also anticipate a guest performance, and are proud to announce DJ Migz as the event's official DJ.

What do I need to bring?

A valid ID such as McMaster Student Card or any government ID that includes a name and picture. An electronic waiver will also be sent and must be signed prior to the event to allow for entry.
